Time managementStressed out thinking how will you manage your office workload? Relax! The trick is to organise your tasks and use your time effectively to get more things done each day. Here are 10 ways that you can consider to improve your time management skills and increase productivity.

Proper scheduling of the tasks

Whether it is your iPhone, smart phone, notebook or a diary, carry it with you all the time and write down all the tasks that pop in your mind. The best move is to make a to-do list the previous night so that you can start your day knowing exactly where your focus should be. Make sure that the tasks you decide for yourself are attainable.

Avoid Procrastination

Avoid it as much as you can. Procrastination hampers the productivity greatly. It can result in wasting essential time and energy. It can be a major hurdle in both your career and your personal life. Procrastination is the foundation of all disasters.

Avoid Stress

Stress decreases your ability to perform well. It normally arises when we accept more work than our capacity. This leaves our body exhausted and tired which has a direct impact on our productivity. Instead, if you can, then divide the work within your team. It will give you a feeling of accomplishment and enhance team work.

Avoid Multitasking

Multitasking is overrated. Research shows that we are way less productive when we try to do a number of tasks at one point of time. In-order to increase productivity we should try to concentrate on one work at a time.

Start Early

If you start your day early, you get a lot of time to sit, think, act and plan your day ahead. Most of the successful persons have one thing in common: they start their day early. During the early hours of the morning, your energy and concentration level is also high. As the day progresses, your energy levels start decreasing which affects your productivity.

Learn to say No

In order to be successful in life, you have to learn to say no to certain tasks. It might be difficult in the beginning if you are not used to it, but trust me, it has a lot of positive effects on your growth. There would be tasks coming to you every now and then but what you have to learn is refuse if you think it is beyond your capacity.

Take small Breaks

It is always advised to take small breaks between work. Increased stress and pressure can affect your productivity. Have a cup of coffee, take a walk, talk, listen to some music or do some quick stretches. The idea is to take some time off from work and relax.

Prioritise

It is essential to prioritise your work. Make a list of tasks that needs your immediate attention and work on it first rather than working on tasks that can be attended later in the day.

Get the “hard” work done as early in the day as you can

This is the key to increasing the productivity. Do the hard ones first Then you can procrastinate as much as you want.

Keep the morning routine same for all days

Wake up at 5 a.m on weekends as well if that is the time when you get up during the weekdays. It’ll keep you organised and sorted. And waking up on Monday morning would be a lot easier.

“Time is the most valuable coin in your life. You and you alone will determine how that coin will be spent. Be careful that you do not let other people spend it for you.”- Carl Sandburg
