It is no big secret that your job resume is the foremost gateway to that beautiful job you always dreamt of. And, keeping the importance of the resume in mind and the want to grab that desired job can make people adopt some questionable ways like lying on their resume.
While you might think that lying on your resume might not be such a big deal, it can actually hamper your chances of getting a good job in the future. In extreme case, you might get blacklisted, which won’t do your career a lot of good.

Losing credibility
Once you lie on your job resume, you lose credibility with the the recruiters. Recruiters want candidates who are truly skilled and qualified and aware of how to do a work properly.
If you are lying on your resume, then most likely than not, you won’t be a perfect match for the job. Also, most companies, whether big or small, conduct a background check on the employees. So, during this time if you are caught, then you might lose out on whatever chances you might have had to start with.
Raises questions on your candidature
Many companies conduct a background check after hiring the candidate. So, say you got the job but you might be dismissed after a month or so. On top of that, you will have to live on a constant fear of someone eventually finding out your lie and you losing your job.
And, even if you pass through the background check without getting caught, eventually, you will have to prove your skills. If you lied about any of the integral qualities really required for your job, then you will get caught when you start working on projects.
That would mean, you will eventually get caught and suspended or removed from the job.
Hamper future job opportunities
If you are caught lying on your resume and the company decides to take some harsh steps, then it might hamper any future opportunities that come your way.
You might get blacklisted from the company and never be able to come back to it again, however qualified you might be in the future. Also, companies have their own network too, blacklisting you there would mean that you would not be able to apply to a lot of jobs in a lot of companies without having some handy explanation in hand as to why you lied in the first place.
A series of lies
To cover up one lie, you might have to build a series of lies. And, the more false information you give out, the more it increases your chances of ultimately getting caught in the lie.
Also, recruiters prefer truthfulness and honesty a lot more over some impressive resume lies. And, obviously, lying can ultimately reduce the chances of getting the job that you want
Lying on your resume can never be a good idea. Even if you lack certain skills and qualifications that you think might be required for the job, focus on building them up.
