1 day to go for 2017! Have you decided your resolutions yet?
It’s the time of the year to make those New Year’s resolutions. Most of us- we make them, maybe stick for a short period of time and then they are gone. So, here are simple things that you can do to make a difference to your life, health, and career.
Sleep more and take naps when needed
Getting enough sleep is the easiest thing you can do this year to improve your grades, health, and look more attractive!
When you have to study but feel tired, take a 20-minute power nap first. You’ll be more productive and spend less time studying.
Stop skipping breakfast
Your body needs the energy to keep going. Eating a healthy breakfast will improve your concentration and memory, which you really need at college!
Do at least one thing on your bucket list
Have you been dying to try out that restaurant you always pass by? Is there a monument that you have always wanted to visit? Make plans to finally do it, and have something fun to look forward to!
Call your parents
If you are living away from home, your parents are missing you. You might not be thinking of them every day, but they would appreciate your attention.Your voice will always make their day a little brighter, so why not?
Clean up after yourself
Put things back in their place after using them. Challenge yourself to do this for a week, and you will be surprised by how tidy your room will be. If you have roommates, they will appreciate having a clean environment too!
Get an internship
Discover what type of work and company you want after graduation. There is no substitute for this other than to get experience, both the bad and the good.
Give away your past semester books/notes to juniors
Help a younger student succeed next year in school. Give them tips on their classes and professors. You can also recommend clubs and events that they can get involved in. What’s better than people looking up to you for extending a friendly hand?
Make one friend in every class you take
Having a friend to rely on will make that dreaded subject more bearable. Not only will you have some fun, you can exchange notes or cover for each other when you can’t make it to class. Also, where do you think you can get missing notes from?
Settle your debts with friends
Money is tight when you are a student. Your friends are also in the same boat. Return money you borrowed, and ask the money you lent to be returned.
Learn to cook two things other than Maggi
Being able to cook a few things can make a big difference to your budget. You would be surprised by how simple some recipes can be. There are many You-tube videos and recipes that teach you how to make delicious food. A simple khichdi, poha, or mashed potatoes can make for an easy dinner.
Look up PG colleges if you want to pursue further studies
Don’t miss the application deadlines due to ignorance! Keep track of news regarding their placement reports, entrance exams, cut-offs, and other requirements.
Read 12 books or watch 12 movies
Want to have something new to talk about with your friends or acquaintances? Watch movies or read books to unwind. Talk about the most interesting parts and recommend the best ones to your friends!
Follow a few influences in your industry on social media
Yes, we all like cat videos. Diversify your social media newsfeed with both fun and informative posts. You will be surprised by how much you learn by reading a relevant blog post everyday – delivered to you straight from Facebook, Twitter, etc.
Let yourself dream big, even just for 15 minutes
Forget money, family expectations, and your own limits. If you can do anything, what would you do? Give yourself permission to dream big. If you are afraid to even imagine the possibilities, how will you achieve them?
The New Year is a great time to reflect on the changes you want to or need to make. So, follow the resolutions that you have in mind to have a great 2017!
Happy New Year. 🙂
