The Government Medical College, Chandigarh was started during the year 1991 in pursuance of the No Objection Certificate issued by the Government of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, vide their U.O.No. 12013/31-90ME(P) dated 15-01-91. The defacto Government Medical College was started in the Prayaas building, Sector 38, Chandigarh after the foundation stone laying ceremony was performed by the former Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Chandra Shekhar on 20 January, 1991 in Sector 32 on the quilt of 36.09 acre of land allotted by the Chandigarh Administration

Eligibility : MA, BSc, Diploma

Qualifications: Master Degree in Social Science or Community Health Nursing from a Recognized Institution OR B.Sc. from a recognized Institution with Two Years Diploma in Social Work

10+2 with Vocational Course in MLT from a recognized Board/Institution with one year apprenticeship OR one year experience in the field in a Hospital Institution OR Diploma in MLT from a recognized Board/Institution. Desirable :-Knowledge in Pathology/Anatomy Museum

Application Fee : The application fee is Rs. 500/- (Rs. 250/- for SC candidates for SC posts) as non-refundable, which is to be deposited in the "Power Jyoti" Account of GMCH in any branch of State Bank of India with the fee payment Challan duly filled in. ii. Physically handicapped, Ex-Servicemen and the candidates, whose name is sponsored by the Regional Employment Exchange, Chandigarh are exempted from Application fee. iii. Fee paid in any other mode will not be accepted.
