Job Description:

Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to:

-Installing and maintaining a web-based GIS development, test and production environment

-Creating and customizing ThinkGeo/ArcGIS based web-mapping applications and APIs

-Creating maps having different projections and spatial datasets using ArcGIS and FME

-Researching, Collecting, and Maintaining free and propriety spatial data from various sources

-Performing spatial data analysis and validation

-Researching about new sources/methods of spatial data representation on web-based environments

-Creating and modifying database (includes spatial databases) tables, views, queries and stored procedures for use by applications and the websites

-Creating and maintaining database diagrams and documentation

-Creating and modifying open source web-map servers for the development of open source web-map services/applications

-Creating and modifying .Net based backend for web-map services

-Supporting hand held mobile/touch/garmin devices for all web-mapping applications

-Creating technical specification documents

-Preparing base maps for Printed Charts & Maps

-Creating Project code documentation

-Participating in project development and testing as assigned

-Porting of code from development, to test, to production

-Participating in the assessment and recommendation of development tools and platforms

Knowledge:

Mapping APIs : ArcGIS API for Javascript, ThinkGeo .Net for WebEdition, Leaflet, OpenLayers

Servers: ArcGIS for Server, IIS

Programming/Scripting Language: ASP.Net, C#, Visual Basic, JavaScript

IDE: Visual Studio, Python IDE

Website Development:

-HTML, XML, & CSS
-JavaScript Libraries: jQuery, Dojo
-AJAX technologies
-Support Website for touch based devices

Databases:

-SQL Server: T-SQL based creation, manipulation and implementation of procedures, triggers, etc.
-Enterprise Geodatabase: Versioning, Query and Maintenance
-GIS Knowledge
-Mapping Projections
-Land Survey Systems of Western Canada
-Spatial Analysis: Density, Heat Map, Buffering, Zonal/Regional Analysis
-Feature Creation & Manipulation
-Georeferencing
-Various GIS vector/other formats like shape files, GML, KML,GeoJSON, Dbase tables, CSV
-Scripting: Python & Visual Basicfor ArcGIS Desktop

GIS Software:

-ArcGIS Desktop 10+
-FME 2014+
-Knowledge of programs/programming languages to manipulate shape files and convert it to other data types such -as GML, KML, GeoJSON, and spatial tables.
-Working knowledge of W3C& OGC specifications and best practices for web page development and web mapping
