It is an inclusive body made up of members from Glass Manufacturing companies, Glass processors, Builders, Contractors, Developers, Glass Fabrication companies, Installers, testing laboratories, Policy formulation bodies, Educational institutions & Research bodies, Glass Experts, Stakeholders of the industry and Government of India

GSI aims to develop and administer independent rating and labeling systems in areas like Safety, Energy etc for glazing of all kinds - windows, doors, skylights etc
