A storage administrator safeguards the storage and retrieval of important data for an organization. They utilize software, hardware, and other tools to keep information secure. As a storage administrator, you store data on hard drive arrays, local networks, or within the data cloud and perform regular backups. A storage administrator needs to be able to know fundamental storage, block, file, object and database-type activities, stated Greg Schulz, founder and senior advisor of research firm Server StorageIO.

Skill Set Required:

1-Must be proficient in multiple storage technologies, such as RAID configurations, and be able to determine the appropriate storage .
2-Must be highly skilled in storage hardware architectures; high-level programming languages; distributed file systems; network protocols; and data storage applications.
3- Designing systems and infrastructure that focus on privacy and security, or systems that enable data analytics via artificial intelligence.
4-storage administrators should focus on software-defined storage constructs, hyper-converged infrastructure technologies, cloud storage services, big data, artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning and data security.
