SuryaGen was started by entrepreneurs with a passion for making a difference in a world facing an energy crisis. SuryaGen emerged from ideas conceived by Professor Vasant Natarajan of the Indian Institute of Science , Bangalore and was founded by an experienced team with an extensive background in research , innovation and in building successful companies.

Vasant Natarajan is a Professor at the Department of Physics of the Indian Institute of Science since 1996. He earned his BTech in Electronics from IIT Madras , his MS from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and completed his PhD in Physics at MIT with a Nobel - prize winning group. He then worked at AT&T Bell Labs before joining the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore. His research interests include optics , lasers , and the use of light - matter interactions to understand the fundamental laws of physics. Vasant has always been a hands - on researcher interested in developing technologies relevant to Indian markets. This solar energy venture is a natural culmination of years of thinking and investigation.
