The Punjab Agricultural University was established in 1962 to serve the state of erstwhile Punjab. On trifurcation of Punjab in November 1966, Haryana Agricultural University was carved out of PAU by an Act of Parliament in February 1970. Later, in July 1970, Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidalya was established.

Qualification: B.Sc. with minimum OCPA 5.00/10.00 basis or 50% marks. 2. M.Sc. in Biotechnology/Plant Breeding/Plant Breeding & Genetics/Genetics/Life sciences with minimum OCPA 3.40/4.00 OCPA or 6.50/10.00 or 65% marks and CSIR-UGC/ICAR/DBT NET qualified. OR 3. Ph.D. in Biotechnology/Plant Breeding/Plant Breeding & Genetics/Genetics/Life sciences with minimum OCPA 6.50/10.00 basis or 65% marks.
