About the Module

Familiarity with English Language in its various nuances is an essential skill, especially in the current climate of global networking where English is the lingua franca of all major businesses. AMCAT English aims at determining the candidate’s ability to understand:

(a) the written text
(b) the spoken word and
(c) communicate effectively through written documents.

The test broadly covers the following areas:

  1. A wide-ranging Vocabulary to cope with general and specific terminology

  2. Syntax and sentence structure, the incorrect use of which distorts meaning and becomes a communication hurdle.

  3. Comprehension exercises designed to test a candidate’s ability to read fluently and understand correctly.

  4. The ability to understand and use suitable phrases, which enrich the meaning of what, is conveyed.

It has 25 multiple choice questions, which include word meaning questions, antonyms-synonyms questions, grammar questions and questions based on comprehension passages. The time allocated for the module is 25 minutes.

A good grasp of the language enables employees to be more effective workers enhancing skills of communication as understanding instructions, writing e-mails, and expressing themselves. For employees dealing directly with the client, the importance of English cannot be understated as they have to effectively communicate with their client and leave a good impression.

  • Fluency: No matter how much you study the basic entities of a language you can only be fluent in it if you practice it regularly. Read newspaper editorials and novels on a regular basis.
