Practice upto 4 hours a day
You don’t necessarily have to devote 16 or 9 or even 6 hours every day to succeed in the GATE exam. However, whatever time you devote, you need to be smart about it and ensure that you are making the most of it.
Also, consistency is an important factor that can turn things in your favour when you are eagerly waiting to taste success in the GATE exam.
So, devote 2 to 3 hours everyday to your GATE exam preparation. And, by everyday we do mean every day. Even on the days when you are super busy, take out the said number of hours. If you want to succeed, then you will have to make a conscious, consistent effort towards it.
Also, ensure that you are dividing your time judiciously. For that, you can divide the syllabus into three different sections – easy, medium and hard. Spend more time understanding the sections which you consider hard but ensure that you are not leaving the easy sections behind.
The topics which you think are easy might be the sections you can easily score the most in. So, ensure that you are prepared for them as well.
Focus on Mathematics and General Aptitude
Mathematics and General Aptitude happen to be the two highest scoring topics and hold a total of 30% marks between them. So, while you should work through the whole syllabus, try to be a bit partial towards Mathematics and General Aptitude.
You can also devote the first 45 minutes to these two sections. However, take care to only answer those questions which you are absolutely sure about. Every wrong answer in the GATE exam can cost you marks.
The secret to success in the GATE exam is to keep practising, knowing your strengths and weaknesses and working on them and being able to work around the syllabus smartly. You don’t always have to forget to live in order to succeed in the GATE exam. You just need to be willing and consistent. Also, take care to work on your health and well being while at it.
All the best!
