Featured Sector: Animation Industry

The process of creating a continuous motion by rapidly displaying a sequence of static images that minimally differ from each other is known as Animation. Animation can be either analogue (like flip book, motion picture film or video tape) or digital (like animated GIF file, Flash animation or digital video).

Animation techniques:

  1. Traditional animation:This technique was used in most of the animated films of 20th Century. Photographs of drawing, drawn on paper which differs slightly from the one before it are run in a sequence to create the illusion of motion.
  2. Stop motion animation: The animation created by physically manipulating real world objects and then clicking their photographic. The frames are then run one after the other to create the illusion of movement.
  3. Computer animation: As the name suggests, animation is created digitally on a computer. 2D animation is based on image manipulation while 3D animation can create real-world like images in which characters and objects can move and interact.

In 2009, the animation industry in India was growing at a compound annual growth rate of 30% and is expected to reach US$ 1.5 billion by 2015.

Career in animation:

Animation industry doesn't only provide exciting and fun roles to work-in; the animation sector is also growing quickly thereby creating tremendous career opportunities for talented minds interested in this field. Many big studios and companies have started to outsource animation content from India which has caused an outburst of high paying jobs for animation professionals.
