Who can take the AMCAT?

AMCAT is currently offered for engineering and MBA students. AMCAT can be taken by pre-final, final year students and freshers (0-2 years experience). AMCAT will soon be available for Arts and Science graduates.

Are there any particular criteria which need to be fulfilled to give the test?

To give the AMCAT, you either need to be enrolled in a degree program or passed a degree program. There are no other criteria.

Does the score have an expiry date, like a SAT or a GRE/GMAT?

The AMCAT score is valid for 3 years from the day you take the test. You may take the test again after 3 years to have a valid score.

Where all can a person give the test?

What is the syllabus of the AMCAT?

What are the qualifying or passing marks for AMCAT?

There are no qualifying marks for AMCAT. Every company uses its own criteria based on different AMCAT Module scores to select candidates. Aspiring Minds does not interfere in the selection criteria. Even if you do not perform well in some modules, there is a chance that you will be short listed.

Is AMCAT also useful for non-IT/CS engineering branch students?

Yes. Aspiring Minds has both IT and non-IT companies with it. The IT companies who accept AMCAT score also consider students from non-IT/CS branches for possible hiring. Even if these students do not perform well in Computer Programming, but show a high aptitude, there is a fair chance that may get selected.

How will a company contact me?

Whenever a company shortlists you, you will get an email through Aspiring Minds informing you about the same. So it is advised that you regularly check your email, otherwise you could miss an opportunity.
Companies visiting your campus may also use the AMCAT score to shortlist candidates and not conduct their own assessment test

If my English is not good, can AMCAT still help me?

Yes, even if your English is not good, but you show good aptitude and technical skills, you could be shortlisted.

When is the best time to take the test?

The best time to take the test is NOW! The earlier you give the test, you will have opportunities from companies who continuously shortlist through us. Also given the recession, many companies could stop hiring any time.
Preparing much longer shall not change your AMCAT score much since it assesses your inert ability. A brush up for a week on your technical skills and taking the test is the best option.

How is AM Portal different than any other job portal?

No other job portal except that of Aspiring Minds is used to hire fresh graduates by mass recruiters and core companies. Aspiring Mind's gives accurate assessment scores to company for all candidates, which enable efficient hiring. No other portal extends this service.

How should I prepare for AMCAT?

Preparing for long hours does not change your AMCAT score. AMCAT score reflects your intelligence and what you have learnt over the years. A brush up for a week on your technical skills and taking the test is the best option. Once you register on the website, you can see sample questions to give you an idea of AMCAT content.

If my AMCAT score is not good, what should I do?

If your AMCAT score is not good, you can give the AMCAT again after a period of 3 months. Only your latest score is reflected to companies.

Students from which colleges have taken the test?

Students from various engineering, MCA and MBA colleges have taken AMCAT. These include Netaji Subhas Inst. Of Tech., Delhi College of Engg., Maharaja Agrasen Inst. What is the AMCAT?

AMCAT (Aspiring Minds' Computer Adaptive Assessment) is India's Largest Employability Assessment and is recognized by over 50 companies. AMCAT gives candidates detailed feedback on their employability (seven stroke feedback) and helps connect them to over 40,000 entry level jobs every year.

What subjects does the AMCAT cover?

AMCAT is a multi-dimensional test with the Aptitude (consisting of English, Quantitative Ability and Logical Ability) and AMPI: Aspiring Minds Personality Inventory modules being compulsory and additional skill-specific module which is required for jobs in different sectors. The skill specific modules vary from Computer Programming, Electronics and Communication, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Accounts, Marketing, Human Resources, Financial Services, etc. The candidate can choose the skill modules based on his/her education and/or interest.

Is there negative marking in AMCAT?

There is no negative marking in the test. The test taker is expected to answer all the questions in every module.

AMCAT is an adaptive test, what does that mean?

An adaptive test gets harder and easier based on the answer given to the previous question. If you answer a question correct, you get a tougher question and if you answer a question wrong the next question becomes easier. This allows the test to measure the exact ability of the test taker in the subject being tested. The score of the candidate depends on the level of questions he or she attempt correctly.
The candidate should attempt every question with complete sincerity, to ensure that he or she scores well.

What is the AMCAT ID?

AMCAT ID is a [16] digit unique ID generated when a candidate appears for the AMCAT. It is generated during the test taking process and is given to the candidate. The candidate should keep the AMCAT ID safely as it acts as a future reference for test scores, job interviews and offers.

My college is organizing AMCAT, but I wont be able to attend it. What should I do?

You should try your best to appear for the AMCAT in your college. Any delay in taking the AMCAT can deprive you of job opportunities and reduce the time to prepare yourself based on the feedback.<br>
If you cannot take the AMCAT in your college, due to unavoidable reasons:

1. If there is a large number of students interested in taking the AMCAT at your college, you may request Aspiring Minds to conduct the test again.

2. You will need to sign up on www.myamcat.com. You can schedule the AMCAT here in a nearby city for a specific date.

Where can I take the AMCAT apart from my college?

AMCAT is held in centers various cities around the country on a regular basis. You can schedule the test here. We strongly recommend that for your own convenience, you should take the AMCAT in your college when it is being held.

Can I take the AMCAT from home?

No. AMCAT can be taken only in colleges where Aspiring Minds is conducting the AMCAT. AMCAT can be taken in Aspiring Minds designated Centers as well.

I want to take the AMCAT in my city. How can I do that?

You can take the AMCAT in designated centers on particular dates. You can schedule your test here. If you are a large group of students from a particular college, you can request Aspiring Minds to hold the AMCAT in your college as well.

Can I give the AMCAT again?

Yes. You can give the AMCAT again after 3 months of your last attempt. You may give the AMCAT a maximum of 3 times in a calendar year post your first attempt.

If I give the AMCAT again, which score will be valid?

The company recruiting would choose the score to consider. While some companies might consider the latest, others might pick the best or average scores.

I have taken the AMCAT for a particular company. Is my score valid for other companies too?

In most cases, AMCAT test conducted by Aspiring Minds in your college or at a test center for a particular company is a valid AMCAT score. It is valid for other companies recruiting on the basis of AMCAT. You may check your scores validity by logging into www.myamcat.com

I would like to take the AMCAT. How can I schedule the AMCAT?

I am in 3rd year of Engineering. Can I take the AMCAT?

YES. AMCAT is very useful for 3rd year Engineering, 2nd year MCA, 1st year MBA students. The detailed feedback report (seven stroke feedback) helps you get ready for the campus recruitment events in the coming year. The seven stroke feedback helps you understand your strengths and weaknesses and guides you on the right industry/job for your set of skills.

Is there an eligibility criteria to take the AMCAT?

There is no eligibility criteria to take the AMCAT. You should not have given the AMCAT in the last 3 months. There are no percentage criteria or educational qualifications to take the AMCAT.

Am I eligible for AMCAT?

Everyone is eligible for the AMCAT. AMCAT is used by many different companies who have a spectrum of eligibility and qualification norms.

I have not got my AMCAT score till now. What should I do?

AMCAT scores are first sent to you over email. Please check the email account of the ID you provided while taking the test. Also check your junk folder. In case you find the email in Junk Folder, please mark the email is NON SPAM to ensure that you continue to get the emails from Aspiring Minds in your inbox.
If you have taken the AMCAT:
1. In your college for no specific company: The scores and reports are typically sent with in 6 working days of the test attempt. Sometimes due to heavy volumes there could be a delay. If you have taken the test more than 10 working days back, please send a support request here. In case all your college mates, have received their scores while you haven't, please send a support request here.
2. In an Aspiring Minds Test Center: The scores and reports are typically sent with in 6 working days of the test attempt. If you have taken the test more than 7 working days back, please send a support request here.
3. In your college for a specific company: You may or may not get your scores and report based on the policies of the specific company getting the test conducted.

My AMCAT scores are low. What should I do?

First of all, you should properly go over your detailed feedback report. The report is available post login, here. The report will help you understand the areas where you didn't fair well and help you understand how you can improve your employability and AMCAT scores.
Post reading the report, we recommend you train yourself using recommended books and reading material (in the report) to prepare yourself better. You may re-attempt the AMCAT after 3 months of your current attempt.

I have good AMCAT scores. When will I get an chance to interview?

Congratulations. Aspiring Minds works around the year in helping AMCAT takers get jobs in leading companies around the country. We will inform you over email and SMS as soon as you are shortlisted by one of these corporates for a job interview. Please check your email regularly (including spam folder). Also keep your latest profile updated on myAMCAT. This will increase your chances of getting shortlisted and getting the information in time.

Can I give the AMCAT again?

Yes. You can give the AMCAT again after 3 months of your last attempt. You may give the AMCAT a maximum of 4 times in a calendar year post your first attempt.

I have got a low score in 1 section of the AMCAT. Can I just take that section again?

For any re-attempt you would need to appear for all mandatory sections of AMCAT again.

Apart from the "right" scores, at a given point of time, job opportunity depend on a variety of factors which include:
1. Which company is hiring at that time
2. Which area/region that company is hiring
3. Specific qualification/eligibility of the company currently hiring

How long is my score valid?

Your score is valid for a period of 3 years.

Can I hide my scores from companies?

Yes you can. You can hide your profile from companies by editing the "Hide my profile" option in the profile section.
We recommend that you only hide your profile if you do not want a job any more. Otherwise there is little advantage of hiding your scores.
When you hide your scores, AM's corporate team and clients will not be able to shortlist you for any job profiles. You will still continue to have access to your account and reports on myAMCAT.

Once I take the AMCAT, will the score be valid for all companies which accept the AMCAT?

Yes. The scores are valid for all companies that accept the AMCAT. Different companies use different criterias to shortlist/select candidates for interviews.

I have taken the AMCAT. Now what should I do to start getting job interviews?

My friends have got an interview call, but I haven't. Why?

This could be due to a variety of reasons. Some could be:
1. Every interview event has a limit. Hence you might get invitation for a subsequent interview event planned.
2. Corporates use a variety of criteria to select candidates for interview. You might not fared well on all of them.
3. You might be in a different region where the company might be planning interviews at a later date.

I was shortlisted for a interview based on AMCAT, I couldn't clear it, will I get another opportunity through AMCAT?

Yes. You would continue to get opportunities with companies where you qualify based on your AMCAT scores. We would recommend you prepare for the reasons of rejection in interview so that you have better chance of getting a job in your next interview.

I was shortlisted for a interview based on AMCAT, I couldn't attend it, will I get another opportunity through AMCAT?

It is definitely not suggested to accept an interview invitation and not appear for the same later. Aspiring Minds tracks such incidents (who have skipped interview calls twice) and does not forward future opportunities to such candidates. In case you cannot attend an interview due to genuine reasons, do not accept the invitation and inform Aspiring Minds promptly.

I have not got any job interview call till now. What should I do?

Please check your profile on myAMCAT. Ensure that it is completely upto date. Things to look for:
1. Contact details like mobile phone, email ID.
2. Current location/address
3. Degree details/completion details/percentage marks
4. Profile hidden or visible
In case your profile is upto date and correct, you might have low scores in AMCAT. First of all, you should properly go over your detailed feedback report. The report is available post login, here. The report will help you understand the areas where you didn’t fair well and help you understand how you can improve your employability and AMCAT scores.
Post reading the report, we recommend you train yourself using recommended books and reading material (in the report) to prepare yourself better.
You may re-attempt the AMCAT after 3 months of your current attempt.

How soon can I get another interview call?

Aspiring Minds does not create any gap between interview calls. You may get an interview the very next day if you have been selected for an interview by one of the companies which recognize the AMCAT.

How does Aspiring Minds shortlist people for interviews?

Companies which accept the AMCAT select candidates for interviews. Aspiring Minds facilitates the same. Candidates are selected based on a variety of parameters including scores in specific sections of the test, location of candidate and other parameters in the candidate profile.

I am ready to travel to another city for an interview. How can I let Aspiring Minds know?

Please update the profile section of myAMCAT for your preference of Interview locations. Aspiring Minds shall automatically shortlist you for interview events happening in different cities as per your choice.

I don't have an AMCAT ID? What should I do?

An AMCAT ID is provided to a candidate/student who has taken the AMCAT. If you haven't taken the AMCAT yet, you should schedule one immediately here. If you have taken the AMCAT and forgotten your AMCAT ID, please refer to the Login, My account FAQ Section.

I have got an SMS regarding an event, but I have not received my admit card in email?

1. Please check your junk email/spam email folder. 2. Please wait for atleast 3 hours after you have got the SMS. The email might be on its way. 3. In case you don't get the admit card, click here to contact us.

I have not printed my admit card. Can I still come to the event?

No. You would require a printed admit card. In certain events at short notice, the admit card might say that you may come without the admit card. In that case, please read the admit card carefully and bring all required documents. Please carry proof of SMS and AMCAT ID for easy verification.

My admit card has some wrong details. What should I do?

If you have already taken the AMCAT, please check your profile on myAMCAT and correct any problems. Otherwise contact here to get your admit card rectified. You may still proceed to the event and request the Aspiring Minds representative at the event to help correct the issue.

I would like to change my reporting time for the event. How can I do that?

Currently there is no provision to change the reporting time or test time. The event is very carefully planned for 100s of students and candidates. Hence for your own convenience and that of others, we recommend that you follow instructions as per admit card issued.

I wont be able to attend an interview. Can it be postponed?

We strongly recommend you attend the interview you have been invited for. You might get the same opportunity again only if the company is recruiting again in the same location in the near future. Aspiring Minds cannot guarantee an invitation for a future event.

I wont be able to attend the test as per my admit card. Can it be postponed?

I don't have an admit card for an event. Can I still attend it?

No. You can only attend an event for which you are issued an admit card.

My friends have got an admit card for an event. I want the same. What can I do?

In case you have registered for the same event: 1. You have not got the admit card because you are ineligible. 2. You have registered for the event post the deadline for the same. 3. Admit cards are issued in batches and you might be getting the admit card soon. 4. Check your junk/bulk email folder.

I have registered for an event but I have not got my admit card. What should I do?

The reasons to have not got an admit card: 1. You have not got the admit card because you are ineligble. 2. You have registered for the event post the deadline for the same. 3. Admit cards are issued in batches and you might be getting the admit card soon. 4. Check your junk/bulk email folder.

I have registered for AMCAT and fee has been deducted from my Credit/Debit Card/Bank Account but I haven't received my Admit Card ?

For some transactions it takes 24-48 hours for the payment to reflect in our account. Your admit card will be mailed to you as soon as the amount is credited in our account.

How much do I have pay for AMCAT?

You have to pay Rs.425/- for scheduling AMCAT.

If I have to take AMCAT again, do I have to pay again ?

Yes, you will have to pay again when you schedule AMCAT again.

How do I pay for AMCAT ?

You can pay using the following options:
1. Online Payment : Credit Card, Debit Card or Net Banking
2. Demand Draft

I don´t have credit/debit card or online banking account. What should I do?

You can pay the AMCAT fees through the following options:
1. Demand Draft
2. You can use your friend´s or one of your family members credit/debit card or online banking account.

Can I Pay through Cash at the test centre or your office ?

Sorry, we don´t accept any cash payments at our test centres or our office. You can pay using a Credit Card/ Debit Card/ Net Banking/ Demand Draft.

Can I pay through Cheque ?

Sorry, cheques are not accepted as a mode of payment for AMCAT fees. You can pay using a Credit Card/ Debit Card/ Net Banking/ Demand Draft.

Can we send a DD for paying the fees ?

Yes, now you can pay using the Demand Draft for scheduling a Test.

How can we pay using the Demand Draft ?

You can pay using Demand Draft by following the steps given below:
1. Log on to www.myamcat.com with your Username & Password
2. Click on Schedule a Test
3. Select the appropriate City, Center, Date & Slot
4. Click on Proceed.
5. Select the payment option (Demand Draft).
6. Enter your personal details & then click on Generate Pay slip.
7. Send us the Pay Slip & the Demand Draft (Please enter your name & Order ID on the back side of the Demand Draft)
8. You will get a mail after we receive the demand draft. Subsequently, one test will be credited in your account.
9. Now, you can schedule the test & pay by using the "Use the Test Credit" option.

I have sent the DD. When can I schedule the test ?

It takes 5-7 working days for the DD to reach us and the payment to get credited in our account. We will update your status as soon as the amount gets credited in our account. You can then use the "Use the Test Credit" option to schedule the test.
